GLB to FBX, textures still attached.

FBX is still what Unity and Unreal import most reliably. AI3DGrab converts the GLB you already downloaded in the browser tab — no upload, no convert server, and the material maps travel with it.

What changes

What the conversion keeps — and what it drops.

Every format is a trade. This is the honest version for GLB → FBX, so nothing surprises you after the import.

Kept

  • Mesh geometry and the object hierarchy
  • UV maps and material slots
  • Base colour, normal, roughness and metal maps
  • The original GLB, untouched, so you can convert again

Dropped or changed

  • glTF-only extensions (KHR_*) that FBX has no equivalent for
  • Morph-target animation on some imports
  • Embedded textures arrive as separate files — keep them beside the FBX

Steps

How to convert GLB to FBX

  1. 1

    Download the original GLB

Export the model from Meshy or Tripo first and keep that file. Every convert should start from the original, not from a file you already converted once.

  2. 2

    Analyze the link in AI3DGrab

Paste the Meshy or Tripo link you can already open, preview the mesh, and check the asset list. Nothing is uploaded; the original is fetched from the source you own.

  3. 3

Choose FBX in the download panel

Pick FBX and start the convert. It runs locally with WebAssembly, so the mesh never leaves the tab, and the texture set is offered next to the result.

  4. 4

    Import, then check scale

Bring the FBX into Unity or Unreal, confirm scale and orientation, and reconnect any map that arrived as a separate file. Do this before rigging or building levels around it.

Before you convert

  • Keep the texture zip next to the FBX; both Unity and Unreal resolve maps by name.
  • Convert from the original GLB every time — converting an FBX again compounds small losses.
  • Check scale and rotation before you rig. A wrong scale is cheap to fix now, expensive after animation.
  • If a material arrives flat, re-download the GLB and convert again instead of hand-patching the FBX.

Where the GLB comes from

AI3DGrab opens models you can already access in your own Meshy or Tripo account. Paste the model link, preview it, then download the original or convert it. It does not bypass plans and does not ask for a Meshy or Tripo password.

FAQ

Questions about this conversion

Can I convert a GLB that was not made by Meshy or Tripo?+

The studio converts the models it analyzes from Meshy and Tripo links. For an unrelated GLB, use Blender (import glTF, export FBX) or a local assimp build; the same rules about textures and scale apply.

Do the textures come with the FBX?+

Materials and maps are kept. Textures that were embedded in the GLB are written out as separate image files, so keep the texture zip next to the FBX when you move it into your project.

Does the conversion upload my model?+

No. The convert runs in your browser with WebAssembly. The mesh is not sent to a convert server, and AI3DGrab does not keep a copy on disk.

Is FBX better for Unity or Unreal?+

FBX is the safest interchange format for Unity and works well in Unreal. If your pipeline is Blender-first, keep the original GLB instead — Blender imports glTF natively and loses less.

How much does it cost?+

Converting is part of the studio. The free plan includes 6.3 points once; paid plans add a monthly points allowance. See Pricing for the current caps.
